Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, considers determinacy and predictability as the main achievements of the first year of presidency of Viktor Yanukovych.
"It may be assessed in different ways, but the continuous squabbles between the high-ranking authorities are already gone," the Head of the Parliament stated.
He declared, "There is common responsibility and willingness to effect necessary practical transformations." However, V.Lytvyn warns that not all changes will be smooth.
According to V.Lytvyn, another positive aspect is determinacy of Ukraine´s place in the world. "I mean the fundamentals of foreign and domestic policy of Ukraine," he stated.
He admitted that the last year was complicated, considering the economic recess both in the world and Ukraine. Thus, the acting authorities "had to settle the issues on the spot," which gave rise to the matters "discussed by both civic society and the opposition."
Still, V.Lytvyn believes that Ukraine will have no prospects, if only drawbacks are considered. "There should be a positive scenario of development. Our plans should be based on the principles of constructivism," he stressed.
